June: #eshg2024 and „niksen“

Working in a specific research area usually comes with attending the typical conferences of that same field. However, a great way to push yourself and gain new perspectives is not only throwing yourself into a new field but also attending different conferences. What a great experience for Katja to attend this year’s ESHG meeting in Berlin with new and old fellow friends and colleagues from evolutionary anthropology (Nobel prize winner included), clinical genomics, and epilepsy genetics.

Now, the very opposite to lively conference days and permanent input is „niksen“ – the practice of doing nothing – either as a matter of stress release or, adapted in the work context, as a way of avoiding distractions and allowing free thoughts and deep focus. Let’s see, whether we get some good papers written this way.
